Rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTG cranes) are mobile gantry cranes used in intermodal operations to ground or stack containers. Inbound containers are stored for future pickup by haul trucks, and outbound containers are stored for future loading onto ships.

RTG cranes typically span multiple lanes, one of which is reserved for container transfers. Advantages: Its maneuverability gives RTG cranes a wide range of equipment.
