What is a windlass used for?
Windlass is also called anchor windlass,winch windlass.etc.The windlass is used to retract and release anchors and anchor chains. It is usually installed on the main deck of the fore and stern part of the ship for anchoring and mooring of the ship. The warping head on both sides of the gypsy can be used for line handling.
